Space Walker  (kit)  S. Tiger 2300

How long have you been in the hobby:  "I have been interested in airplanes since I was about 10 years old.  I bought those 5 cent balsa kits (4 pieces) and flew them as gliders.  About 20 years ago, I started buying airplane magazines and drooling over those good looking models".

What channel do you commonly use: 24, 29, 58 and 59

Instructor: YES

Do you have any advice for the new comer to R/C on selecting a plane?   "I usually tell people interested in getting started in R/C to start with a "Trainer" plane and to build from a kit.

What plane would you recommend for the new comer to R/C: "Carl Goldberg still makes an "Eagle 2" kit and it is a very good trainer".

What do you like about this hobby:  "The thing I like about our MAM club is that it is quite family orientated.  On a nice weekend we may have 8 to 10 RV's camping and more members come to the field for the day.  Many potluck meals at our field.  Another thing I like about the hobby is the friendships built with members of other clubs and going to their Fun Flys.  Many great people".

So who helped you learn to fly: "Jim Larson gave me lessons".

Extra 300  (kit)

Navy Trainer  T-28  (kit)  Saito  180

What type/brand of engines do you commonly use: "Through the years I have had Fox, OS, Super Tiger and Magnum 2 stroke engines.  I have OS, YS, Saito and Enya 4 stroke engines and a Zenoah gas engine.  I like the 4 strokes for the low RPM, torque and deeper sound".

Lake Metigoshe - Summer 2002
Piper Cub / floats  (kit)  OS FS71

What types of models do you build:  " I have built rubber band powered (indoor type), trainers, gliders, sport, military, park fliers, aerobatic, float planes and a rocket plane".

"At this time I have two planes under construction.  The Cessna 172G is a quarter scale and the other is a Swoose, which is a sport seaplane.  Both planes are scratch built from plans."

Cap 232   Saito 150

When was your first solo: "I basically soloed and started flying in 1989.  We were flying at the Trestle Valley flying site at that time".

Sig Rascal  110     Zenoah  G26

What radio system do you use: Fatuba

"I got started with Futaba radio systems and have been well satisfied".

How do you feel about ARF's:  "I think there are quite a few flyers who don't want to or have the time to build and they probably wouldn't be in the hobby without them.  I have ARF's and I do have some negative thoughts about them".
