Membership
in this Club shall be open to all, upon application and
payment of dues, who show a genuine interest in model
airplanes; who are of good moral character; who are
members in good standing of the Academy of Model
Aeronautics (AMA), and who are citizens of the United
States of America and do not belong to any subversive
group detrimental to the constitution of the United
States and who subscribe to and obey the laws of
the United States of America. |

Types of Membership |
|
Membership
in the Minot Aircraft Modelers is divided into six
different types:
A. A General Member is entitled to all
rights and privileges without limitation. |

|
B. An
Associate Member is a member who is active duty military
or a member of another club and wishes to support the
Minot Aircraft Modelers and enjoys all of the privileges
of membership except voting. Associate members do not
pay land assessments. |
| |
|
C. An
Honorary Member is a designation bestowed by the
membership upon a living person who has distinguished
himself or herself in the hobby of model aeronautics.
The Club may consider such a designation upon
recommendation, in writing, by a regular member.
Honorary members shall have no voting privileges and
will hold such designation at the pleasure of the
membership. Such member may use the Club
Field, but only as a guest of a general member and
providing he/she holds a current AMA membership. |

D. A
Life Member is a designation bestowed upon a living
person by the board upon payment of an assessment to the
club determined by the board. These members shall be
entitled to all rights and privileges without limit. |

E. A
Family Membership is a designation for a family
group in which one person is a general member and
his/her spouse and minor children are members at an
additional fee determined by the board and membership.
All family members are entitled to all rights and
privileges without limitation. |

F. A
Junior Member is a member who is under nineteen
years of age and is entitled to all rights and
privileges without limitation. Junior members do not pay
the land assessment. |

How Do I Join |
In order to
join MAM, you first need to down load the
2009 MAM Membership
Application. You give the completed form
with dues to
Jerry Cushing, a fellow club
member or you can drop it by Aeroport Hobby
Shoppe.
Remember, you must also have a valid
AMA Membership
in order to join MAM. |

How much will it cost
to join? |
|
Most of the MAM membership falls into one of these
three common types: General, Associate and Family. |

General
Dues for a General Membership will consist for the first
year of a $30.00 annual dues and a $25.00 Land
Assessment for a total of $55.00. (The Land Assessment is $200.00
divided over five years. The first two years you
pay $25.00 then the last three you pay $50.00 per year,
for a total Land Assessment $200.00.)

Associate
Dues for an Associate Membership is $30.00 annually.
In order to qualify for an Associate Membership you MUST
be active duty military or be a member of another club.
NO Land Assessment charged. Because no Land
Assessment charge, member has no voting privilege. |

Family
Dues for a Family Membership is $35.00 annually. With the Family Membership,
your family members get to use the MAM facilities, it's a
great deal! |

| When
are MAM Dues due and what IF I join late in the year? |
|
Your current MAM dues are due at the time you join the
club. Then
dues shall be due on January 1st of each year, and are
payable during the thirty day period preceding thereto.
Any new member being received into the Club after
September 1st shall have their dues applied to the
coming year. |

| If
I applied for my AMA on-line, can I still join? |
|
YES, the
AMA has a secure on-line order system
that allows you to apply and pay for your AMA membership
quickly. After you have gone through the
membership process on the
AMA
website, print your final screen as proof of payment.
You can use this to verify your AMA membership until you
receive your AMA card in the mail. |

Does the club
have anyone to teach me how to fly? |
|
YES, and
for free too. You can find more information on
Instructors in the
PILOTS areas of this website. |

Why do I also have to join the AMA? |
|
1) Most
importantly you will receive Liability Coverage for the
Operation of Model Aircraft, Boats, Cars, and Rockets.
This coverage consists of the following:
$2,500,000
Comprehensive General Liability Protection for model
activities for members, clubs, site owners, and sponsors
$25,000
Accident/Medical Coverage for members
$10,000
Maximum Accidental Death Coverage for members
$1,000 Fire, Theft, and Vandalism Coverage for members |

AMA protects your right to fly: They work at all levels
for you: local, state, and national. As the number-one
voice for aero modeling, they work with the FAA (Federal
Aviation Administration) for airspace, the FCC (Federal
Communications Commission) for frequencies, and help you
